Definition: Rotary drilling hose is the common name for "rubber hose used in rotary drilling and vibration damping," also commonly referred to as "drilling equipment hose" or simply "hydraulic hose."
In geological and oil rotary drilling, large volumes of fluid mud need to be delivered to the drill bit under high pressure. Rotary drilling hoses and hose assemblies are used as flexible connectors in mud delivery lines. Rotary drilling hoses are used between the top of the riser and the rotating joint that moves up and down. Marine mud delivery hoses are used for high-pressure mud delivery between barges and offshore drilling platforms, and are typically longer than 13.5m. Vibration damping hoses are shorter (9m or less) and are used between the pump and the drill rig, i.e., the riser manifold, to accommodate different axial profiles and isolate vibration.
Structure: Composed of an inner rubber layer, an inner protective rubber layer, a middle rubber layer, a wire-wound layer, and an outer rubber layer.
The inner lining of the hose should be made of oil- and water-resistant rubber.
The hose reinforcement layer should be composed of textile and steel wire (rope) materials.
The hose outer sheath should be made of oil-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and weather-resistant rubber, with a colored stripe along its length for easy identification during hose installation.
Applications: Steel wire wound drilling hoses are used for oilfield cementing, well workover, petroleum geological exploration, small drilling rigs, hydraulic coal mining, and transporting fluid media such as drilling mud.
